Greek Mythology Oracle - Pan's Rose Garden [Mar. 5th, 2008|11:05 pm]

Title: Pan's Rose Garden
Medium: Acrylics and Coloure Pencils
Size: 8.5"x11"

I've been painting up a storm since the weekend, because I have to put my brushes down this coming weekend in order to clean and prepare for a property inspection on Monday. My goal is to have three paintings finished by Friday night. It's now Wednesday and I only have one finished, but I do have another close to completion. You see, I actually began Ares on Sunday evening after I finished the Eros painting. I succeeded in completing nearly all of the background and his body, only to mess up his face late Monday afternoon. I was so angry and frustrated I could have torn the painting in two, but the days when I could afford to start from scratch again are long gone, so I didn't destroy the God of War. Instead, I carefully washed the paint from his face, removing as much as possible. Then I left him to dry, and began work on Pan.

I began work on Pan on Monday evening. It's now Wednesday evening. It's taken me just a little over two days to paint him. That makes me happy, despite the fact that my scanner has again messed with the colours just a little bit. The original is so beautiful, definitely the equal to both Aphrodite paintings, and for now he is my favourite. *laughs* That will undoubtedy only last until the next painting is completed.

But I've passed the halfway mark and should be able to meet my target of ten paintings for this month. *laughs* There was a time when the idea of completing ten paintings in a month would have made me faint and have heart palpitations. Now, it does not.

You know what? I find myself wondering if I can talk my publisher into giving me another oracle deck to do after I've finished this one. I've found myself really enjoying the challenge.

Anyways ... Pan is above, and Ares is on the way. He should be finished by tomorrow evening, which means I will have to push to have another finished by Friday evening. I don't think I'll be going to the coffee shop for dinner on Friday night. Might have to pull an all-nighter instead.
